Here we have another solid example of the ever popular Simplex design 0-6-0. A good solid performer as they all tend to be, with a free steaming boiler, it's a really easy engine to handle and get you into the hobby.
The valve gear and bottom end is pretty tight and well machined and we've given the copper, silver soldered boiler a twice working pressure hydraulic test to make sure all is well there too. There's an injector, plus an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass and of course the hand pump hidden in the tank with a massively heavy and over engineered handle! Lubrication is mechanical and in the usual place on the running board.
The paintwork is a little scruffy on the backhead and footplate where the shovel and coal have left their marks, and the cladding is a little clumsily fitted at the moment on the boiler, but none of that detracts too badly from the overall appearance which is pretty tidy. As with all our running models she can come fully tested and ready to play.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
